Lately I have not been playing 6max NL. You might say oh you must be playing HUNL then? Wrong. Oh ok then your playing 6max PLO? Wrong again. Then you would say you went back to your degenerate route playing HUPLO? Sadly, no. Mtts? Superturbos? Double or Nothings? You would probably go through almost every variant of poker before you forced to me to answer. That answer is sadly Full Ring No Limit Hold Em. I realize that I have spent countless hours bashing Rash about playing Full Ring but I just couldn't handle the 6max grind anymore. Full Ring is very different than 6max and its just something to be said for playing a different game and getting away from the usual grind while still putting hands in. I imagine I will be back at 6max relatively soon, but something different than 6max is in my best interest for a while.
I've been on a little downswing lately and for the first and hopefully only time of my career been forced to deal with running a significant amount below all in expectation. This in turn has caused me to question my game and I just do not feel like I am playing all that well in the 6max lineups on Stars right now. A good reg told me once that it was something to be proud of to break even while 20 tabling 200NL. After my experience at 100NL I laughed at him, thinking that the terrible regs would breakeven just as they did at 100NL. 200NL is so much different. Its just difficult to beat the games when you are not playing your best, and I just have not been doing that lately. FR seems to be going ok in the very small sample size I have so far so I guess we'll see how it goes.
Tomorrow, or today I guess, we are going to celebrate StandardBull.com's very own Zack "CZ", "Mr. Jones", "Club Slinging", "Insert any word you can think of" Caldwell's birthday in sweet ole Kernersville. I'm sure we're in store for a night of buffoonery that will remind of us the Estate days of old.
